Where to Eat and shop for local
Produce in Bandon
Bandon has a good choice of places to eat
and drink and plenty of take-aways (chinese, italian and indian)
Local
Grocery Shopping
For local grocery shopping, try the
fantastic delicatessan, Urru, located on the Bandon river. People come
from miles around to purchase local food products here so you won't be
disappointed. You will find something here to take home from Bandon.
How about some of our local honey or Ummera Smoked Salmon. Urru also
serves great coffees and teas. Don't forget to find the Bandon
Country Market on Friday and Saturday mornings and the Farmers Market on
Saturday mornings as they are both full of delicious local fresh
produce.
The main supermarket, Caulfields/Supervalu
is located in the Riverview shopping centre also on the river at the end
of MacSweeny Quay. There is a less hectic supermarket in the old shopping centre just off South Main Street.
Cafes
Cafes include:
Urru
Seats: a creperie in Howard Court
The Early Bird: a fresh modern Italian style cafe with a garden
on South Main Street
Divine Cafe: a cafe and restaurant next to the Chapel Steps
O'Briens: A sandwich bar in the Riverview Shopping Centre.
Restaurants
Restaurants include:
The Poachers Inn, Clonakilty Road, Bandon. This is a
typical pub with a restaurant upstairs. It is a good 10/15 minute walk
from the house but well worth the effort! Barry formerly worked at the
renowned Fishy Fishy in Kinsale and opened this restaurant in 2007.
If you like fish, this is the place for you! Great food and
unpretentious surroundings. Open every day
Sorrento: An Italian bistro on South Main Street, Bandon.
Take aways are
available
Divine Cafe: A bistro located at the Chapel Steps.
Popular with locals.
Anarkali: The best Indian restaurant in town located on
North Main Street, Bandon. Also does good take-aways.
Deasys, Ring, near Clonakilty. About 15 minutes drive from
Bandon. An informal bar restaurant with great food.
The Old Head of Kinsale Golf Club: As the restaurant is primarily
for golfers, an advance reservation is required. The
situation is hard to beat with fantastic views overlooking the sea and
golf course. Try their brunch on a really sunny day. A great
experience to remember.
